    Heater any good? - D1

    Hi folks,

We bought our '98 300 Tdi Disco in summer.

The current cold snap in Melbourne has required the use of the heater.

Are all Disco heaters useless or has our's got a problem. The thing wouldn't heat your tootsies if you drove it all day and night.

My Mitsubishi Canter will burn your feet within about 5 minutes of starting.

    Thanks.

I have a 93 Disco and the heater is probably the best thing that works in the car You probably have a problem somewhere with your heater core .One of the guys on here might know the exact prob.

It may have been bypassed because of a corroded core and consequent leaking. Follow the pipes from the radiator to the core and see what you can find.

    Mine works very effectively.

Check to see if the previous owner has bypassed it(usually due to leaking heater core).Track the heater hoses to where they hit the firewall, should be obvious if its been butchered.Discos/Rangies generaly have good heaters.Other than that you may have a seized/blocked heater tap.

You have a problem as they work really well - though diesels do take longer to heat up than V8s.

Yours being a late model D1 you probably won't have to pull apart the whole dash. Have a search on here for heater core

I think it's been covered a few times
