This one was brand new, from a respected seller (recommended on this forum).

When it first went bung the guys who did my gas conversion - who diagnosed the MAF - put in an MAF from another disco that they knew worked - and it made no difference.

Therefore I think I can rule out the MAF (and sell one of mine - hopefully) and start checking the connections to the MAF.

Any idea what else I should be checking?

I have cleaned the MAF, and pulled the temp sensor off and not a lot of difference, however, the temp sensor is a bit stuffed, will need to put a new connector on and check to see if that makes any difference. Funny thing tho, it was revving at idle at about 1100 rpm and when i took the MAF sensor off, the motor stumbled (so it must be working in a fashion) then settled in at 750 rpm and stayed there resolutely in idle, sounding sweet as a nut. When i gave it a rev, it felt like it took a big gutfull of fuel (running rich) before revving (just like a carby car with a big double pumper on a small engine) nice and smoothly. Not game to drive it whilst it is piddling down rain here in Toowoomba (thank whichever god u believe in) and I don't want to get soaking wet.

Really just want the beast to be reliable when we go on camping.

Update: After I put on my brand new MAF sensor from ebay and it didn't make a difference, I took the disco into GC's in St. Peters and they ended up putting in a replacement ECU to test it... BINGO, problem solved.

So I bought the ECU (used, very reasonable price) and she's running perfectly on duel fuel...

Now that it's running on petrol it's so nice to hear that old 3.5 rumbling again while I'm engine breaking... it's like beautiful music... makes me feel all warm and fuzzy :D
