    Electric/Power Windows

I've a 2door 91 Disco with electric/power windows. I've noticed that they have been taking a while to wind up lately, they seem to be struggling a little. On Saturday after going threw a couple of largish puddles the passenger side wound down, but wouldn't come up. The drivers side was fine. After an hour or so the drivers would no longer wind up either.

I left it over night, and in the morning the passenger window wound up, but the drivers didn't. I haven't played with the passenger one since. This morning the drivers window wound up, I thought cool it's fixed and let it down a little. But it will not go back up now.

I'm guessing I will need new motors. Can I just get the motors or do I have to buy the whole assembly? I've seen some currently on ebay for a reasonable price.

    Thanks for any help,

    Dannie

    Hi Dannie

Try taking out all the control switches and giving them a blast with Metho or a squirt of circuit board cleaner .... (Watch the plastic ) ... to get the grease off the contacts

This will get them going again (dirty switches)

For the motor problems try ....
Dikywacker fluid (CCR or WD40) on the terminal connections of the motors inside the door panels .... then a blast on the motors

Check power supply has full voltage (12.6)

If this fails ... then buy new ones

    Mike

Fix the dry joints on your electric window control board too. Located behind the glovebox. Might not be the problem but it will need it anyway.

There is a thread with photos on the site somewhere.

My windows were a little jittery as they went up until I fixed the dry joints.

Only problem, I don't have a glove box. Must be located somewhere else.
