    Airflow Snorkel

I know this subject has been covered to death but how the hell do you fit an Airflow Snorkel to a 300TDi Discovery. The bits inside the engine bay seem simple just basic plastic buggery, butchery and bodgery. The issue I am having is with aligning the outer section using the supplied toilet paper..... sorry that should be template. I reckon I will use it as a very rough guide but need to know the following.
    1) should the snorkel be parallel to the body crease or guard top?
    2) should the section that goes up the A pillar follow the line of the pillar exactly?
    3) should I have a spare lh guard in case?
    4) how does the snorkel body join to the elbow piece that gets glued into the airbox, does it have to have a rubber sleeve over both parts inside the guard?

NZ$220 is the reason I have a brand new Airflow snorkel.

    Thanks
    Adrian

You get what you pay for

I purchased one for a D2, I felt it was such a load of C--- that I asked the supplier to take it back and paid a bit more for a Safari. The Airflow fits where it touches and others complain of it lifting off the guard as there are not enough bolts etc on it. Then you have to bog, cut and fabricate bits to get it to seal. Suggest you do like me and ask for your money back as not suited to the job it is supposed to do.

cant say i had too much bother fitting mine tho i was a little tentative as i hadnt done one before. think i put it in the projects area.

i did photocopy the template and measured the back of the snorkel and remarked as needed as i had heard the template was out.

the template was a few mm out on two bolt holes from memory and i didnt experience any lifting away once fitted. i used polyurethane to seal it not silicone.

took all of 10 minutes to remeasure and double check the holes before drilling it.

once i worked out where the big hole should be drilled, i used bluetack to mark where the bolt holes should go just to confirm i had measured it up okay.

i was very happy with the unit itself once fitted.
