    unknown wire??

    i found a unconnected wire down near the front drivers side brakes,not sure if it was ripped out in the bush or was disconected by someone else,what is it for,i was think low brake pad senser wire but realy dont know,any advice would help,there doesnt seem to be one on the other side,not the best pics

    my first thought was wheel speed sensor- if you have abs, but if it doesnt have a twin on the other side i guess not. plus i'm sure there'd be a warning light if it was that. do these cars have brake pad sensors at all? also the fact it looks like it's wrapped in a different ribbed conduit stuff, makes it look like it might not be standard.

    I think it is the low brake pad sensor Mick.I think from memory there should be 3 small holes where it fits up.There is only one sensor for both the pads.

    It is the brake pad sensor for that cute little amber light on your dashboard, it only reads one side, it assumes the other side is uniform in its wear. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ sorry just saw your post SPROVER.

    the low pad sensor is what i was thinking but just thought i would get some help incase something else

    Slip the convoluted tubing back and check the wire colours. That will let you check exactly what it's for.

    If I was feeling energetic, I'd check the ETM and tell you the colours for the brake sensor.

    My 1996 D1 has black and white wires for the brake pad sensor.
