I purchased a 1992 2.5 litre tdi of a mate a few weeks ago, it had broken alternater brackets top and bottom.
I have purchased replacement parts and have installed the Alternater.
My question is, there is 3 wires on the little loom that goes to the alternator, the big thick power 1, a brown 1 with a yellow stripe and a white 1.
The 2 non heavy duty power ones are quite small diameter wire.
I worked out where the main power one went, on the biggest post on the back of the alternator, the other 2 I can not work out.
Looking at the back of the alternator there is 2 posts on the flat (rear of alt)of the alternater and 1 post that makes up part of the outer alt casing. The thick power 1 used the bigger of the 2 on the flat part.
I need to know which goes where.
Once I get this sorted it out I am off to degrease and clean the engine and underneath of the car prior to getting a roady and getting reggo.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Brown with yellow should be ignition feed,(B+) and the white (actually white and slate colour) is to the 'W' terminal tachometer connection.
