Yes, I have the rave cd. I have several. And Have the Haynes manual. I still find it a bit diffictult to understand though...I.e. this thread.

I'm not sure about the tap, it seemed to get clogged and it took me a lot of cleaning before I could see light through the other end.

Anyway, off to find a hardware store that sells these 1.25 inch spanners to get the gearbox drain hole open. The socket just won't gte in there and the shifter doesn't hold on tight enough.

    Xav,

32mm LONG ring spanner is what I use(It is the same as a rover V8 sump plug size), even have to use a hammer sometimes to shock it loose.

They ARE tight, and usually also fitted with Hylomar on the thread too from the factory.

    Question

Hey Ron, I'm near Woodford. I went and got another head for my ratchet and hoping it fits because no one in the mountains has the right size spanner. 1 inch has been the biggest I could find over more then 20 shops.

The only reason the new bit would fit is it looks a few mm less in length and that's all I need but I'll go out and check now.

Ron, if it all falls apart I might PM you. As I can't drive the vehicle now I am on my motorbike and I ain't so keen going to far in this weather.

Do you want me to ring a friend in Woodford? He used to work at KLR Automotive and drives a Disco.

All Sorted. Thanks for the offer Ron. A neighbour of mine worked for B.Davis but he hasn't been home to nab the tool off. So I could of always waited for him but my partner has been going on and on about going out this afternoon.

A lot of Metal shavings were present on the gearbox magnet and not as many on the transfer case magnet. Does this mean much or very normal?

    define a lot...

the quantity isnt quite as important as the composition..

if you squeeze and roll it between your thumb and forefinger and it doesnt feel sandy or like its got chunks in it (ie its of a fine uniform consistancy) then its not something to worry about.
