    300TDI welsh plug

    Hi all
I have just found a water leak in my motor its coming from the welsh plug on the back of the block at the top what would be the best way of getting to it as there is no room to get it out

    thanks jimbo

Since a 300tdi is easy to remove - take the engine out and replace all the welshplugs. Make sure the heater hoses aren't the culprit.

Diff gets in the way. Better to do stuff like that out of the car and be sure that it's secure than to have a loss-of-coolant situation when you don't want to. I know it's a PITA, but welsh plugs are something you have to get right - and you can't fit them right if it's in a confined space.

I'm am in the process of putting the motor back in what a pain in the a*s it was the welsh plug was totally F**ked and I replaced the timing belt ,tensioner, front main seal, (I had to borrow a special tool from my local land rover dealer to remove the timing gear from the crank) and engine mount let me tell you all I never want to do it again
lets hope this disco has a bit of better luck from here on in.

    thanks for the advice

It's a little known fact that genuine Land Rover welch plugs are made in Wales. So they are actually Welsh plugs .
