Rear drive shaft
My 95 D1, Has once again spat the flexible loint on the reard drive shaft. Maybe the third in 6 months. The vehichle has a 2" lift and i am aware of the inherent problems that the lift causes the flexible joint. Unfortunately i've already purchased the new joint, so am bound to replace it one more time, then go to the rigid drive shaft that i've heard about. The problem is that i have removed the shaft from the Disco to replace joint and the bush that sits in the drive shaft and whilst doing this the yoke and uni came out of the shaft. Now I cant get the yoke back in the shaft. I thought that this would be just a matter of lining up the splines and sliding it back in. It just won't go. Tight as a fishes bum. Can anyone tell me why? And what to do about it.

I replaced my driveshaft long ago, so can't remember exactly what it is like at the slip joint.
Typically there is a seal that is retained by a collar, which screws on. You may have to remove the collar to inspect the seal to ensure it wasn't trapped in the splines when you tried to fit the yoke back in.
Then if you have the yoke and splines aligned properly it should go in - may need some light persuasion to get started.

I'll give it a go tonight. I'll work it out eventually. Just another pain in the butt.

be careful how much persuasion you use, I used a lot and it turned out I had it incorrectly lined up. It's still sat in my shed stuck together with the spare one on my car...
There is no obvious marking regarding which way it is supposed to go so you will have to try it out carefully until you get it right.
It should be able to smoothly go up and down the spline when you have it lined up properly
edit: regarding the flexiable joint, I have been told that depending on how you drive it you can expect 50,000km out of them. I've got a 2" lift as well only had to replace it once so far.

My thoughts were the same. The splines on the seal in the collar sometimes rotate slightly, so that when you go to put the shaft back in, the splines align to the seal, and the not the rest of the splines in the slip joint.
