They are difficult to reattach
It helps to back off the adjustment a little, then readjust after lever pin is back in. This is done by turning the black plastic knurled ring under the circlip where the cable goes down through the floor clockwise. This SHORTENS the cable outer, thereby allowing more cable to come up through the floor. Obviously, tightening the cable afterwards is a anticlockwise rotation, LENGTHENING the cable outer.
