Four months ago there was no world financial crisis. And although the price of fuel has come down somewhat, nobody really believes it will stay there for very long, so in the used car trade, "V8" is a dirty word. Add to this the fact that car dealers are facing serious financial problems, and there are few dealers (if any) who want an older V8 - they are fightened they will get stuck with it.
It very much depends on the vehicle, but I would guess that you may get as much as $3000 in a private sale - but nobody really knows what any car is worth today, as it varies from day to day with economic news.
