Thread: Changing oil seals inmy 1993 V8 Disco

Can anyone please tell me if I need to remove the Auto trans to change the rear oil seal?????.
Or can it be done with the car over a pit.

If you are talking about the rear main seal in the engine, then you need to remove either the engine or the transmission.
Transmission removal will also require transfer case removal. It is a pretty big job either way.

If you are talking about the transmission output seal, then the transmission can stay in the car, but the transfer case will still have to come out. Not quite as big a job, but still plenty of hours in it.
