Thanks heaps guys, firstly im suprised from all i have read on here and other websites how well these tyres wear and handle on road in the wet and dry. I was always under the impression that muddies handled like marbles on the road

Well all you guys seem very happy with them i cant find anything negative about them on the net! And i think because of how long tyres last i may as well get the biggest and best i can for now, so i think going with a M/T is a good way to go, plus they look sweet!

Now all i have to do is finalise the size i want to go with, and find the best price

...oh the only other tyre i was looking at was the silverstone -117 they are pretty dam cheap but i haven't heard much about them and the Delta A/T's which i also haven't heard much about.

My 245/75's required the inside lip of the rear guards to be rolled in. 265/75's would require some hefty guard work to stop them rubbing. I've heard 235/85's fit without too much intervention with power tools Others here may be able to comment further on that....

Ok, so i have decided to go with the Bighorns as i have read great reviews on the tyre and many off you guys seem to be very happy with their preformance!

Now i have eliminated tyre size down to the following two sizes, but still looking for a little bit more advice on which tyre would be better suited to the discovery

I am running a 2inch lift in the disco and still running the standard steel Diso rims.

    235/85R16 or 245/75R16

The 235 is a 31.7" tall tyre where as the 245 is a 30.6" tall tyre but has a slightly larger foot print...with all of this in mind which size would be better suited, i understand with both i will have to cut the gaurds but i am happy to do so, but i was curious if i run the 235/85R16 will i still need to adjust the steering?

Hope to hear from you guys don't go shy on me

I've run both on my disco. 245s were fine with a 2inch lift and minor guard trim. I put 235s on and huge amount of contact in the wheel arches. Two inch bodylift fixed that. Steering stops will also need adjusting. If you don't want thses hassles stick to 245/75/16.

I knew this would happen, very mixed advice.

Well That extra diff clearance would be good but the taller tyres are going to give me more dramas with gearing and speedo.

Ill get the price on both sizes when i call around and see what kind of difference there is in cost as that is also a major playing factor!

Grover i put 235/85 on my D2 TD5 going from 245/75, It will take a lot of power from the car and if you are running standard size at the moment, you will notice it a lot, if you use the car as a tourer stick with 245s, however if you do a lot of off road hard stuff, go the 235/85s for the extra diff clearence.

Cheers Redback, i do a lot of black stuff so it would appear that it would be a far better idea to go with the 245's

Ill ring around today and see who has the best offer
