I'm currently looking at the 4.6 options myself for my 3.9. I did it with the 3.5 in my SD1 and it was an easy job. I don't think stroking your own engine is a good idea unless it also includes having top hat liners fitted. New 4.6 blocks are around $4 - 4.5k, but personally I think getting a seasoned top hat linered block may be the best way to go for around the same money.

Thats why the 5.2 is so costly, it is top hat linered and stroked

Does it get the 4 bolt mains? The undrilled bosses seem to be there on the 3.9 block.

I think now actually they use 4 bolt 4.0/ 4.6 blocks, top hat them and fit stroker crank etc. Used to use 2bolt 3.9 ones but the others are getting more available now.

It is fairly exxy, but there is no substitute for cubes, and no having to convince anyone that it isn't still 'just a 3.9'...

You can even leave the 14CUX ECU etc (with a chip upgrade), HM big bore headers and some decent exhaust work, some distributor graphing and it'll be apples.
