I have heard that the old man emu suspension is to hard for rovers, but i havn't had any personal experiance, over hear bilstein and koni are a very good shock, and lately there has been some great right ups on the EFS shocks
CHEERS TIM.
Hi guys, I'm just back from a 5 day camping trip in the Great Sand Sea desert here in Egypt, 2 of the other vehicles (Landcruisers) owners were raving about their new Old Man Emu shocks saying how it improved both their on and off road handling, have you guys any experience/advice re OME shocks for my 1994, V8 Disco.
Secondly they plan to get 1"smaller rims for their Cruisers and get tyres with bigger sidewalls giving them the same radius so they can deflate their tyres more to get better offroad grip, again anybody got experience/advice about doing this on my Disco.

OME shocks are considered some of the better ones. Are they the best??? Not in my opinion. Over here that comes down to Tough Dog and Koni.
As for getting 1inch smaller rims... Why not keep the rims and just get higher side wall tires?? You may need to give the back wings a camel cut. aka talking Mr angry to it!!
I think 235x85R16s are about as big as you can go on a fairly standard to +2" disco - others will no more for certain re disco lifts and tire sizes...
Im more of a Defender man!!

Jeez, if I was pounding up and down the desert all day I'd be looking for a monotube or remote canister shock. Definately not a foam cell.

I run OME on my Disco and find them great (same as tuff puppy only better valving) But I'd go with Slunnie, and look for some remote canister shockies, as they be heaps better on all that sand.
I all so run 265/70x16 tyres (instead of the standard 255/65x 16) at 20lbs they work well in our sandy desserts.
I have seen these and they are a VERY impressive bit of gear.
mind you,, the owner runs a V10 BMW M3 engine.
