    newbie questions

    Hello, I am new to this forum and new to land rovers and am looking at buying a discovery probably series 1 depending on cost. I am looking at the V8 model but on gas to keep running cost down. Can anyone give me any info on discovery’s on gas, eg, longevity of the engine, gas mileage etc, things to look out for when buying a 1993-1999, good points and bad, any internet reviews, any information at all would be appreciated.

    I have bookmarked this thread. It gives info on the 300tdi but is worth a read for general D1 issues. Some issues to do with corrosion may be more applicable to the UK.

    The poster specifically asked for "any internet reviews, any information at all would be appreciated".

    I read this thread I quoted a while back and thought it gave a pretty good run down on the D1. I know if I was looking, I would be glad to get as much info as possible.

    Sorry if you don't think my input, or the information I have linked to is worthy of inclusion in your forum.
