STRANGE LEAK
I am looking at buying a 1996 Discovery 300Tdi, it has a leak from the housing that the water pump bolts to. T he leak appears to be from the rear of the housing where it bolts up to the block. A grey dried out powdery type substance looks like started from the top and extend s down a couple of inches. Also the ABS light is on. And no. 2 injector is leaking. It is automatic, not sure what to look for with box. Any clues? Thanks

The water pump leak will most likely be what is known as the P gasket. It sits between the front ancillary cover (water pump and PAS pump) and the steel block.
No.2 injector leak is a possibility but it could also be a leak from the rocker cover gasket or PCV. If its definately dieso leaking I would check the condition of the threads in the injector... maybe some numpty cross threaded the fuel union.
ABS light could just be the wheel sensors, they are a tightish press fir into the swivel hub, try removing and giving a good clean and cleaning the connectors also.
Slush box... its a ZF nothing ever goes wrong with a ZF
