Sounds like one of those little springs inside the door catch might have crapped itself.
Have you tried turning the key in the lock then holding it all the way around to unlock while pulling the handle?
Hi there,
As stated in the thread title I cannot unlock the driver's door with the key or from the inside and hence cannot open the door!
Was working fine whenI nipped out to the shops but on return from woolies could not get in.
The other door and boot open fine (mine is a 2 door) but its a royal pain in the **** getting in the passenger side!
When I turn the key it turns really easy with no resistance in the clockwise direction but does not turn at all in the anticlockwise direction.
I would like to pull the trim off and have a look but this is easier said than done with the door stuck shut!
I checked the fuse box and it didn't even have a fuse in the listed place to control the central locking - but none of the other fuses were blown anyway. The car has an alarm which I have not used.
Any help/advice gratefully recieved!
Steve.

Yep, spring inside door latch gone-- with the window down, pull the inside handle as well as the outside handle and presto it opens. A pain but it works.

You can be excused for thinking that Land Rover could build a vehicle suitable for off road conditions.
But in their normal ways, they put the door lock mechanisms outside of the door seals where they get full of dust. Dust will stop them from opening, even when unlocked. The short term fix is to spray the mechanism with plenty of your favourite spray lubricant to wash out the dust.
In your case it could also be the spring that was mentioned by boxer.
YES,
Pas side gone.
Hold up the lock while opening the door.

Some poeple have used this guy and I'm getting a set from him.
Yesterday was a bit of a write off but got the door unlocked this morning - brute force did the trick - grabbed the lock in pliers and yanked hard! Funnily enough it seemed to work fine after that.
Couldn't see a broken spring but was pretty dusty in there! Sprayed the mechanism with WD40 and fingers crossed everything will be OK.
I think I'll order some of those springs though - and maybe a few plastic tabs to replace the broken ones - not that I did em all though...
Thanks for the tips guys.
Cheers
Steve
