I think they have to be replaced entirely. I would take the hose to a hose specialist and get one made.
You wont be able to seperate them at home to rebuild it to my knowledge.

Hey guys,
I have removed a piower steering line from my Disco 1 (1995) and i am not sure if it is possible to take out just the rubber tube part from this line so i can just replace it, or if i will have to get this whole line replaced?
It has come out alot harder looking than i thought it would be and i need to drive the car to the mechanic on monday, so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I took mine to a specialist to be rebuilt, they use the existing end fittings which saves some dollars. Agree that i dont think it can be done at home without specialist tools.
oh dam hey, when you say specialist, what would a shop be? do you know of any in toowoomba or brisbane? or maybe like just a shop brand thats aus wide? also, do you think it would be at all possible to drive the car without the power steering? like just have to muscle it out?
Call Pirtek or Enzed hoses. They have guys in trucks who will come out 24/7.
Ask first if they can do what you want. I think it depends on if the crimps are on the fitting or on the hose. Crimps on fittings means the fitting has to be replaced.
Cheers

Hi Shamo, Enzed or Pirtek etc are the only option here, as this is the high pressure hose and requires proper fittings etc. It is far better to get it made up using quality fittings, as the OE ones aren't that good. I get Enzed to make mine, 3 to 4 pairs I keep on the shelf. They use 'pushtail' fittings and ' blue' hose, which makes it easier to replace at a later stage if required, as the hose section can be cut off and a new length 'pushed' on to the fitting. I've never had any problems with this set up in at least 7 years now.

What is the reason you are replacing it? Has it burst or just weeps?
If it is just weeping from the fitting, then according to the PIRTEK bloke here, it will still last for yonks.
If it has burst then that's something else but seeing how you have removed it then probably a new hose is the way to go.
I thought their callout charges were quite reasonable, seeing as they will remove, repair, replace & top up the fluid in your driveway.
Not that your driveway may need topping up but you can't be too careful.![]()
yeah it was absolutely buggered i was loosing fluid like crazy, i went down to pirtek this morning and got it fixed, he put a new fitting on it now so i can just replace the hose rather than the whole piece (like i would have had to done if i got genuine) all up it cost me $129. Thanks for the help guys was very much appreciated!! Next step is fixing my water loss... and the major vibrations i have. haha ill worry about the cost of that on monday.
