Hi, How can I improve my sluggish Disco , when I reach 60-70km per hour , car runs fine , just a little slow on takeoff. At lights ect.

pump tweaks and exhaust upgrade are the easy way but dont over do it...

theres plenty of other threads covering this idea.

Check out the recent thread I started about upgraded intercooler etc titled

    "Disco 300tdi dyno'd ? overfuelling"

It may give you some insights about the plusses and minusses of that option. I've certainly left the days of a sluggish 300 TDi behind me, but judge for yourself based on what the mechanically minded have to say.

    Cheers

And you will never be able to afford to drive the thing......

    Manual or auto?

1st thing, remove the centre muffler, replace with a hot dog and then remove the rear ressy so it doesnt sound like mine (one big long fart) on acceleration.

This makes a world of difference, I timed 0 to 80 befoire and after but I cant remember the times, I did post it on here somewhere so you may find it during a search.

There are pump tweaks, the boost control tweak is what you want to look at first, this will allow the boost to come on faster but wont affect fueling so wont change EGT's as far as Ive been told by folks on here that have done it.

Mmmmm, you could be the first to fit a 6.6l Duramax and Allison Auto Ex GMC Sierra to a D1 and live to tell the tale...

Seriously though, as suggested have a search on this site about Tdi tweaks and performance tuning, or look up ThermoGuard Instruments he has a good section on the Tdi specifically.

The best thing about V8's is the noise they make........thats the only good thing really
