    engine identification

    Hi all.

    I am considering purchasing a 93 Disco V8, does anyone know how to identify which engine it has, ie: 3.5 from a 3.9. The owner is not sure and I am not fully familiar with the petrol engines.
    Thanks in advance for any advise.

    Don't know if you can get the VIN number of the vehicle, but I used this page:
    Clifton Scientific Text Services, the Netherlands

    That gave me this info:

    Assuming of course its not had an engine swap.....

    If is it a 93 V8 - the 3.9 should have orange 3.9i badges on either front mudguard. The 3.5 does not have these. The 3.9 will have an anti-roll bar on the rear suspension. The 3.5 does not have these.

    The 3.9 also has the numbers '3.9' cast into the plenum front, like the RRC equivalent. The 3.5 has just got a ribbed appearance.
