    Hi Peppercorn,

Great review. FYI - I just checked and the review on suspensionstuff.com.au is now working properly.

I noticed on the site that the Boss shocks can be mounted either way up - just a matter of putting the correct eye/mount on the appropriate end of the shock. Did you end up with the adjustment knob at the top or bottom of the shock, and was there a particular reason?

I've already got some Dobinson springs on their way to me - ordered yesterday so hopefully should arrive tomorrow
I haven't decided on shocks yet, but need to get the lift in now so I can get some 245/75 Bighorns fitted. The adjustable shocks are dearer than normal ones, but I guess its still cheaper than buying one set and then having to replace them if you don't like the way they feel.

Do you happen to know if the Boss shocks are rebuildable?

Mate you'd have to ask Shane whether or not they are rebuildable, as I just don't know.

I placed the adjusting knobs at the bottom because it is the easiest access. At the front you don't have a choice because of the support cone that the shocks fit into, but at the back you can have it up the top or at the bottom.

I have a really bad back and because of this I chose a Discovery because of the ride I knew was possible. Plus, there were many other reasons.
So, I wanted a soft ride. But I am sure that the Boss are as tough as any other shock out there if that is what you want.

As you said the best thing about them is you have 12 settings that are significant which change the ride.

I think that they are worth the extra.

possibly, they were chosen to compensate for a towbar and drawer setup in the rear that are yet to be fitted so i would say they are slightly heavier

C51-022 springs for the rear and C51-018 for the front

Lovells 541 shocks for the front and 542L long travel for the rear

Could not agree more. Shane took an hour out of his Saturday afternoon a couple of weeks ago to open his shop, take some bushes out of a set of new shocks, and have them available for pick up from his house. This level of service for a set of bushes! You simply cannot ask for any more then that.

Thanks for the review on the Boss shocks, interesting.

Yeah I had a chat with him some time ago about Rangie Springs, very good advice. As for the level of service, seems to me that he must be related to Justin Cooper as he also provides a fantastic service... so theres 2 we can count on so far

I can also recommend Shane, and Suspension Stuff.

Luckily for me, Shane's shop is only a 5 min drive from my place, and when I was fitting a set of lifted springs to my D2 he was only too happy to spend time chatting with me to ensure he sold me the right set to meet my requirements.
Not only that but he was also happy to swap the springs a couple of times so I could try them out to find the right ride height for my setup.

Top bloke, who actually cares about customer satisfaction, not just making a quick buck.

I certainly be going back to him for any other suspension needs in the furture.

Yea, aint it great when you can buy from people like Shane. To me it is part of the whole experience of 4x4.

It's like we all have the same missing gene or something!!
