Is there a good spot to locate a Cb radio in a D1 , I have got the arieal from the rear to the a spot next to the fuse box , I`m looking at drilling some holes in the cover under the steering wheel . But before I do ,thought I`d check to see if anybody as a better spot .

On my D1, I mounted it in the middle of the panel above the windscreen.

Same as p38arover, middle of plastic above rear vision mirror where the sunroof switches go.

I had a UHF with the detachable face. I mounted the body of the unit behind that panel below the steering wheel and the face was mounted in the centre console between the gearstick and the window controllers

do you have a one piece CB or two piece one?

Well its in a D2, but same dash.....I found right in the centre at the top was the most useful place. The bolts go through under the mat for the bracket, bracket comes "through" the mat and the power wire comes up through the radio vent and the antenna cable round right at the bottom of the windscreen as theres a big gap there.

Good thing is if and when you sell the truck, remove CB , fit a new dash mat, holes covered

I did mine in same position as Urban Panzer but I put it into a pod made by Department of the Interior. Had them mount the CB into the pod and mount the pod but installed cabling myself. Much neater look. Size of pod allows hand piece to be mounted to one side of CB and, in my case, I've installed a voltmeter with a two way switch so I can see main battery and second battery voltages. If anyone wants a photo, let me know, but you'll have to tell me how to put it into a message.

Thanks for all your advice on were to locate my CB radio in the D1. I choose the cover under the steering wheel , drilled two 4mm holes to mount the bracket and all the wiring goes inside the cover (plenty of room) the mic is fixed to the ashtry using double sided tape.
