D1 oil pressure probs please help

hi all, im new to the forum so hi, looking for some help with my toy, once the engine reaches normal operating temp the oil warning lamp flickers, it only does it at idle and the slightest increase in revs makes it go out, if i work her a bit the water temp increases resonably quickly (faster than i would expect is normal) the increase in temp makes the light constant at idle, i belive its an oil presure problem, any ideas would be a help

    tried so far:
    - New radiatior
    - New oil pressure switch
    - New oil pressure relief valve
    - New oil & filter
    - New oil pump
    - New main & big end bearing shells (which can ALL be changed with engine in car)
    - Replaced all seals in skew gear, oil pump drive unit/ vac pump thingy

oh yeah noticed the other day when traveling at speed, dip clutch till engine idles & light comes on, brake hard light goes out....

please help im running out of ideas

My next step would be having a GOOD Auto Electrician test the electrics. He should also be able to test the new oil pressure switch to determine if it is actually completing a circuit or whether your oil warning lamp is falsely illuminating. Also an oil pressure test should be done.

I had an instance on a D1, where my oil pressure lamp illuminated after driving through a causeway covered with about 20cm of water. The water splash dislodged the oil pressure switch wire causing it to touch the vehicle body thus completing the circuit and illuminating the lamp.

Marty, first thing to have done was to fit a test gauge and check the ACTUAL oil pressure, not the potentially unreliable lamp...

A VDO gauge, sender and adapter will monitor the oil preassure better than the light.
With the adapter in place you will have both, the gauge and the light.

I Wonder if you have a crack in the oil pickup pipe?
When you brake hard the crack may be covered.
    Diesel I presume.

...And another thoght, if it is a 200Tdi, the cam bearings can be a source of poor oil pressure if worn or sometimes even slipped in the block, (but usually they will then cover the oil supply hole and cause cam failure, so this maybe a 'poisson rouge'...)

I still would like to see some actual gauge readings.

wow thanks for all the replys

right... it is a diesel, 200tdi
i have checked an replaced the wiring where required and tested the switch,(2 new 1 old) i'm happy with my auto electirc skills but may still try an get a man in to double check
the pickup pipe was new when i replaced the oil pump so i would hope it was ok, it looked fine when i fitted it and again when i replaced the shells a few weeks later
cam bearings hmmm, your not the first to say this to me but to my knowledge there is no way of checking/inspecting/replacing them without removing the head, if anyone know different then please let me know as i dont wanna go in there unless i have to, they may be worn but with them creating true low pressure i would expect the turbo to fail first as its the last/furthest in the oil supply chain, they are my first suspect at the mo though
actual reading, i have just purchased a capillary type gauge from good old ebay that i'll fit asap an put my mind at ease with some proper readings, does anyone know what pressure i should expect at idle and 2500 rpm ish so i have somewhere to start

    again many thank all
