    Smile 200TDI and 300TDI

    Hi all

when did discos go from 200TDI to 300TDIs and what is the main difference between these motors? Should they be considered as equivalent from construction and power etc perspective?

not an urgent question but if someone can enlighten me it would be good.

    thanks johnd

Most of it is much the same, just a bit more refined and a little easier to work on. At a practical level, the main differences are:

    • Turbo boost up from 0.7bar to 1.0bar.
    • Minor adjustments to injector pump.
    • Serpentine belt.
    • Changes to timing housing on front of engine.

I'm sure someone will be along in a moment to give a more detailed description...

parts for the 300 are considerably cheaper too

but I have a 300 and a 200 I would deffaintly say although the 300 has slightly more power the 200 is the workhorse engine and will take more abuse
