    Which shocks and coils ?

    Ok . I'm after a set of springs and shocks for Elmo as these ones are shagged . Now I'll be looking at getting a stiffer ride as I'll have the 2 wheel carriers on the back as well as all the camping gear and family in the disco and towing a trailer . I want a 3 inch lift as well . what do you touring guys think would be a good brand to go with ?

    Mick I have Dobinson shocks and coils upfront and shocks rear ( due to airbags) and find them great. A little firmer...but I like that for on road, have now down around 3000kms on them and all is well,

    Hi Mick
    I have 3" dobinson flexxy coils on mine, and so far have found them great!!
    I got them off Shane from suspension stuff, he gave me three options (i think)
    Standard duty, medium and heavy, i got the standard as i'm not planing on carrying heavy loads, i find them a touch hard with no gear in the back so i think you'll find the heavy duty ones plenty
    Over all they are a top, top spring

    Hi Mick,

    I had them in the D1, they gave me a soft ride around town and firmed up with a load.

    Had them for 6 years and if they did sag they did it the same all round. I also ran normal not HD and then put on a bar (front and Rear) bigger tyre etc and the springs didn't play up at all.

    I went through 2 sets of shocks though first ranchos 9000 (do not go there not as good as made out) Boge (oil filled and snapped a shaft due to to much travel) and put on durashock as the last set (sold when only on the car for 3 months so can't comment on longativaty but very good ride)

    I will be going for the Dobinson springs for the front from suspension stuff as they seem to be the cheapest and are only 2km from home. I am not sure on the shocks as yet, will do more homework on this.

    HTH

    Hey Mick;

    I think you've been inside my Disco with Bluebandit and know what the ride's like , I haven't read everyone else's response , I quite like the Kings coil + Bilstein shocks.
