could some 1 who has these plastic flares fitted to a d1 make some measurements for me please
i need to know how much of a cut is needed as i already have my guards cut level with the inner guard at the rear doors so if somebody could measure the distance from the front of the rear doors to the cut section and from the join of the rear guard/brake light panel to the cut and from the horizontal line above the arch to the cut would be awesome
    thanks in advance

    Flare instln

Hi, unfortunately I don't have measurements but these photo's may help, this is how I did it. Others may have different methods but this worked for me. The first cut is the worst , more pics to follow...

    Flares cont....

The back door is the toughest bit, the cut line stops about 100mm up from the bottom of the door.
I cut thru both inner and outer skins at once, leaving about 15mm extra past my cut line using my Sabre saw with a metal cutting blade, made a lot of noise. Then I trimmed the outer ali skin on the door to the cut line,(I used a pneumatic nibbler for most of the cuts) this allowed the inner door skin to be slotted and the small segments folded over towards the outer door skin (see photo). I then painted all the cut edges and sealed the whole lot up using wurth's MS1 windscreen adhesive (use windscreen adhesive not sealant). I used the same adhesive to glue the flares on and used the rubber channel supplied in the kit to cover the cut line on the rear inner guard at the rear door. I also folded up a couple of small panels to fill over the gap left by uncovering the mudflap/guard lower mount bracket (ref last pic).

With the 32" BFG's (which are a big 32") and a 50mm spring lift at full articulation I still get slight rubbing on the door flare about 150mm up from the bottom of the door, and it very lightly touches at the top of the rear inner guard cut out (not doing any damage)you could move the door flare further forward (also lifts it up above the bottom of the door), but if I did that I would probably want to mig up the slots in the inner skin and make up an angle to reattach the inner and outer door skins just to beef the door up a bit.
Maybe I need a body lift now

Hi Boxer was your write up in issue 12 or 13. I wouldn't mind having a read of it.

Still have not heard from uk 3 requests.
so looks like it will be local supplier for parts and service (flares).

Are they definitely the same as the paddock spares flexis?
And btw you may get a reply more quickly if you place the order with the freight costs to be confirmed.

Digging this up again. Is the Aussie supplier Coffs Harbour 4x4 or someone else? This is what I assumed from reading the 6 pages but I may be wrong.

Oh yeah and price would be good too

    Cheers
