    Looking for a Discovery, but i had some questions first.

    I've been looking for a new wheeler for the past little while and was curious about land rovers.

    The biggest factor is, i live in a complex with a parkade... sucks i know, but i have some great reasons for living there, so wheeling had to take a bit of a fall.

    Just wondering about a discovery 1 setups:

    1) i need some reasons for picking one up over a jeep TJ/YJ. what makes land rover great? what are advantages over jeeps/toyotas/suzuki's?

    2) what are its capabilities (i know its not gunna crawl like a buggy, don't worry) but what kind of terrain have you guys conquered?

    3) carnage: what kind of problems have you had on the trail, i.e. broken axles, driveshafts, etc?

    and 4) what is the total ride height of your rig? my parkade is 6'7 on the sign... any chance i could get a lifted rover in there? if so, how much lift can i max out at? does anyone else park their rig in a parkade?

    I know this is a dumb problem for a 4 wheeler to have, but i need to know before i go ahead and get a land rover.

    Any help would be seriously appreciated.

    What model Disco are you considering?

    I've got a 1997 Disco I with a 2" lift and am running 750R16 tyres on it, which measures up at 2080mm to the top of the roof rails, and I j..u..s..t scrape into parking lots with 2100mm ceilings.

    Not sure what 6'7" is in metric, but don't think you are going to have enough headroom

    Height could be a problem!

    6'7" is 2007mm, standard height of a series 1 Discovery is around 1980mm clear - just.

    I don't think even a standard series 1 would make it in.

    If you are after a 4wd camry then I'm sorry,,
    Landrovers require lots of TLC. they also leak, rattle and breakdown.

    yeah i know, i used to wheel allot back when i had my half ton, but then i sold it to my dad when i moved. i thought for sure i wouldn't be able to wheel for a long time while i had to park in this @&#^'n parkade.

    then i heard that land rovers need very little lift to perform on par with other trucks... but i guess its still a little too high.

    anyways, thanks for your help guys, i really appreciate it.

    Parkade = multi storey car park... in some countries.

    Oh wow, a classic RR will fit beautifully. online specs say the top sits 1803mm off the ground. thanks for the advice.

    Sorry about the dimensions, as much as canada is a metric country, everybody still understands imperial better (i chose this site because australians are known worldwide for traversing some badass terrain). Also, i didn't know "parkade" was just a canadian term. it seems "I" need to get out more.

    Thanks for all of your help boys, i'll defenitely look further into getting a RR.
