    Question Recovery points and bullbar fitters in Perth

    Hi,

    This is my first post here. I just joined the Land Rover owners “club” on Saturday, purchasing a 97 D1. It's in fine condition, just the power-steering that leaks a bit, so I expect an expensive replacement in he near future. It hasn’t been used much off-road so it doesn’t have the adequate equipment on it, like recovery points and bullbar.

    I just wonder if anyone can tip on where in Perth (preferably northern suburbs) where I can have recovery points fitted for a reasonable price?

    Also, the same goes for bullbars (would prefer an A-bar/nudge bar if this is available). Where is a good place to get this fitted? Wouldn’t mind the plastic ones as I don’t plan to do extreme off-roading and will do quite a lot of kms on normal roads inbetween trips.

    Congrats on your purchase, and joining the forum.
    Front recovery points can be ordered through 4x4 intelegence and are an easy bolt on using existing holes, and for the rear, if you have a tow bar you can buy a recovery point that fits into the towbar reciever from most 4wd shops.

    welcome Magnus, Central 4wd in welshpool have recovery points, check the markets page for a nudge bar for a discovery I have a feeling their may be one for sale

    Hi and thanks for the replies. After spending the afternoon on the phone I managed to find recovery points at Rovercraft in Bassendean. 2 front ones to bolt on where the bumper is attached they guy told me.
    440 per piece. Sounds like an easy job... just wonder what problems I'll encounter when fitting them..

    In regard to using the towbar, Rovertech said I should be able to use the pin that already is there for recovery. Crash, do you mean this is too weak & I should buy another?

    magnus I reckon you should give the guys at Central a call i reckon you might save yourself a heap, my recovery points were less than half what you have been quoted for one, they are very similar to the 4x4 intelligence jobs

    Yeah, mine were from Central too, about $140-something THE PAIR (front) with bolts, if I remember rightly, and not that long ago.

    My rear recovery point is a big shackle through the hole in a spare hitch (the bit the tow ball itself bolts through).
    Just made sure the pin that holds it to the receiver was "rated".

    The pin in the reciever is fine to use - I actually forgot about using it since I know have the recovery hook that goes into the reciever and it is just a bit more convenient to use thats all.
