The power steering box is leaking and I was wondering is it better to completley replace the box or just replace the seals? It has 168000km on it and the bloke wants $9000 without a RWC or $11,900 with one. I am about to put a list of parts into Karcraft to get an idea of cost to bring it up to Roadworthy standard myself.

Replacing the box at 168k isn't unheard of, or a bad idea. Check British 4x4 (A vendor/ supplier here on AULRO) as I heard he had a couple of secretly priced brand new ones lately....

Fitting new seals will possibly fix it, but paying someone to do it and having the risk it could leak AGAIN at a later stage, then new is always a good idea if cheap enough.
