    SMOKEY 300Tdi

Recently did 3000 klm trip in 97' Discovery 300 Tdi and did not use one drop of oil ran beautifully. Changed oil after trip and used Castrol RX Super as used in multi fleet applications for large turbo diesel engines. Prior oil was Penzoil (I think) engine now smokey grey/blue uses oil. But has no blow by through oil filler to speak of. Blew intercooler hose the other day and found to be very oily. Any clues as to oil smoke/usage that started right after oil change. And what is the recommended engine oil. Thanks

change back to penzoil from the RX super.

fozzy does the same thing, smokes like a chimney when I use that stuff but not so badly when Im using penzoil or nulon mineral based oils.

Ive got a theory why but ATM till I get a few more cases to prove the point I dont want to go bagging the RX super because generally its a good oil to use.
