    Airflow snorkel DI fitting

During a blood rush to my head I fitted the outer Airflow snorkel hose to my 1997 300TDi without checking everthing else. Looks good though.
My 300TDi has throttle body and an EGR that has had its vacuum pipe blocked so it won't operate.
All these things mean that shifting my air box over so I can instal the snorkel inner will be a bit of a mission.
I have seen photos of a late 300TDi without an EGR and it looked like it had different radiator to engine hoses. These hoses look like it would make shifting of the airbox easier as there are no EGR hoses moulded into them.
Is changing the hoses and completely removing the EGR the best way to fit my snorkel or am I just putting obstacles in the way for fitting the rest of the snorkel.

I bought mine with an airtech snorkle, and looking inside the engine bay I dont see where things to be moved. The airbox remains in the same location basically as far as I know, so why do you need to modify anything else.

Im no expert, so I may have missunderstood you.

airtec and air flow are different snorkles so could well be plumbed in different ways..

but I believe there are also snorkles that fit with abs and ones that fit without

I have fitted an airflow snorkel on a D1, V8 so i can't help with the EGR clearance issue but yes you will have to move the air box further in due to the connection between the side of the airbox and the snorkel. I removed the rubber plugs in the bottom and attached with a couple of bolts sealed with glue. I believe on the airtec snorkel the connection is at the front of the box so not an issue.

Thanks guys and gal. I will attempt to get a pic up. It is not the issue of the egr being in the way more that it is the cooling hoses. Over here we have a large number of japanese import Discoverys but I have seen pictures of some without egrs.

I think I have found the answer.
It appears that there are 2 different hoses from the waterpump to radiator on a 300TDi. One for cars with egr and one for those without. The difference looks to be where the hose that goes to the egr or preheats the manifold is attached to the main hose.(inside the bend or outside)
So by fitting a non EGR hose I will create more space to shift the airbox over to allow the inner snorkel to fit and will be able to completely remove the egr instead of just disabling it.

    Thanks
    Adrian
