    255/85/16s

    Hi all,
has anyone run this tyre size on their disco without major cutting and flares. I have a 2 inch body lift so they should fit under but will they catch the outer guard.

The PO of my car had 255/85-16, he made it work with a 2.5" body lift, 2" spring lift and a camel cut. I run 265/75 16" and they just work with about 2" cut off the guards and 2" spring lift so I think they may bind up with just the body lift.

( I had to take the 2.5" body lift off because Qld Transport say it's not legal )

I've got a spring lift as well, but it is softly sprung so does not really give extra tyre clearance. That's the job of the body lift. Did you have extended bumpstops or use a stiffer spring, ie when flexed up do the axles make contact with the bumpstops.

On full flex the axles are just short of the bumps stops - at least there are no marks on the bumpstops from having hit it - but that's could be due to the swaybars, but I have not tried with the sway bars disconnected. I just clear the cut guards with the 265's - there is just enough space to get the tyre up inside the wheel arch on the back - before I rolled over the cut edge, the tyres would just foul on the edge ( took a small slice out of the tread) , but a bit of "persuasion" with a hammer, I rolled the edge over so it just clears. The bumps stop clearance is 110mm (both front and rear axle)
