Thread: Knocking noise

In need of some information. The old 98 300 TDI has developed what can be best described as knocking noise, has only just appeared and only happens at idle , as revs increase the knocking goes away.
The crank and bearings were done about 6000km ago. I have just dropped the sump off but cant see any metal etc in the oil.

Any ideas where else to look ??

have you tried nipping up the main pully bolt into the crankshaft i had a simmilar problem with mine and that what it turned out to be
