    newbie

Hi all, i have just bought an 94 ES discovery V8, it a pleasure to drive after my Hilux surf i can tell you.

Can anybody help me, i have a small miss in the engine under load sometimes, it comes and goes.
It has a non original rotor button on it, would it be better putting the spec one on it?

What fuel are you to use, i have been using normal unleaded, but will i get any improvement on consumption or performance with premium.

Will a snorkel give me better economy on the highway?

    Paul

It would be worthwhile replacing the plugs
    and checking the leads.

Plenty of DIY advice in here for missing D1 V8's.

some people say they get better mileage from premium,,

a snorkle's main function is to gather clean air,,,

I'd rate that more important than mpg,,
(which may well be LESS after installation due to more frontal area)

    Hi

I ran my ES V8 with premium and yes, there is better performance and better economy.
But the economy is mainly ruled by the right foot.
This model is very heavy on fuel, expect 18L/100k's average.

They love gas and a simple install can be had very cheaply with the current gov grants.

With the missfire, there could be many things.
When I first get a new car, regardless of history I always change plugs, leads, oils and filters.
I usually have that done by a Landy Specialist and often also get all hoses and belts done.
That way I start from fresh and know what has been done and have a clean slate to work with.

    Hope that helps.

My RRC had a miss under load caused by a hairline crack in the rotor button.
