unless you can do it your self..the shop is a good option. the SS flex joints arnt cheap, around the $80 mark.

While doing an oil change tonight I noticed that the flex joint at the bottom of the pipe from the manifold is cracked about half way around its diameter. The braided stainless sleeve was already broken off in that area when I bought the car.
Do I just go to an exhaust place and get them to fit a new one, or is there a better alternative?

Guess I'll just take it in - might get them to take out the front muffler while I'm there.

You can also buy a straight pipe as fitted to the Defender. It may be a bit fiddly to fit but will get in place eventually. Waaay cheaper as the Disco part.
