    WINDSCREEN STONE CHIPS

A d#$khead doing a burnout this morning threw up a stone and put a small chip in the screen, rang around as you do for a repair quote, 1 for $88 and 1 for $139 . Also asked for a price for new screen $425 plus mouldings so about $600 odd . So anyone in melbourne had a chip repair done recently or had a new screen fitted, last new scrren i got was for my rangie 2 1/2 years ago and that was $165 and they used a discovery screen.

Novus in Mitcham to resin repaired a couple of chips on my windscreen . Came out quite well - could hardly see them. I think it was way less than $100 each time.

Also used a Novus mobile van once but that was an atrocious job - the depot re-did it and it was much better.

I had a new windscreen fitted to my D last year at O'Brien's Glass $525 including new rubber moldings. They also do chip repairs at around $80, if you have glass insurance on the car it shouldn't cost you anything. I have glass insurance now and it costs an extra $50 a year.

My policy costs about $10.00 p.a extra with glass cover...

Its paid for itself the first time i used it 25 years ago...

Since then, I've had 15 or so glass breakage claims
