    Minor(?) electrical issue

    Hi

I have a 1994 Discovery 2-door which for it's age and mileage (200K) is doing OK.

Over the last few months I've noticed an intermittent problem where I seem to loose the vehicle's electrics for a split second. Typically this is noticeable at night when the lights are on. I touch the brakes and the headlights and dash lights will flicker. Occasionally the tacho will die before coming back to life again.

If I try the brakes again immediately afterwards there is never a problem, but if I leave it for a minute or two then I can often replicate the problem.

Is this likely to be an earthing issue and if so can someone point me in the direction of where to start looking?

Thanks for any input that you can offer.

    David

Its pretty obvious where to start looking.LOL.
Start at the battery negative and trace the negative through.
You should find that the earth goes first to the body, then to the engine somewhere around the starter motor. On my RRC there is also one to the chassis on the RH front.

It is more likely to be either the battery terminal or the one to the engine.
