    300tdi - 2.5" straight through exhaust

Anyone here has got a 2.5" straight through exhaust? Im talking about pipe only, no high flow mufflers, or standard mufflers, just a pipe that runs from the flex right to the back.

Wondering if this will increase performance a little, aloowing it easier to breath out. My tdi is virtually a stocker engine wise, although the pump has been tweaked a little only.

What about the note, is there a loud drone in the cabin without the middle muffler, for example.

Any advice appreciated before I spend the reddies on getting one made up

as soon as me and Ian are off together I'm taking mine in to have some straight through pipe put in place of the muffler....and while I'm there I was going to ask for a quote on 2.5" exhaust all the way through.

I have been in langy's car who as this set up, but I think he possibly has the high flow muffler and the car just sounds right not to tractor like and sounds like what a diesel should sound like.

Noise was not to droning in the cabin, you can hear it but its not tiresome I cant comment on performance but his car did tow our 2a on a full trailer up some very steep hills and wasn't struggling

Will watch with interest.........have you had any quotes to have it done yet?

Thanks dullbird. I guess I do want to hear from those that have it if a centre hi-flow muffler is required or not. But if not, a straight through system will set me back $250. Add another $100 or so for a centre high flow.

250 doesn't sound bad is that from the turbo all the way back?

I have been quoted 120 to have straight put in and flanges welded on the pipe and the box in case I put it back in.

Ive got a very Straight thru Rangie V8 exhaust.....
It did not increase the power at all, But it makes you drive harder in the bush as i tend to make it bark more.....

Even mates with Toyo V8's and Lexus V8 Patrol's think its tough....

    Problem..... its not legal...

I believe so Dullbird, from the turbo back. I will also ask them to place the rear section (bit after the rear axel) higher to hug the base of the body as I have body lift now. It will also mean more clearance too.

i have a 2.5 with no mufflers fitted to the defender $220 from turbo including flex pipe. no real change in noise from inside the cab, others tell me its a little noiser, turbo seems to spool a little quicker, cannot notice any increase of power

Carlos, why not try it without muffler first. If not happy have the muffler added. Shouldn't cost much extra. I did this with the rrc.
Oh, btw, I have a 2.5 with mid free flow muffler and it is a bit drony, but it is a rough and rugged 200tdi, not the refined gentlemans tourer.
