    D2 Winch Bar on A D1?????

    Hey all,

Wondering if THIS would fit my D1 without massive modification?

    Cheers,

    Ades.

You would need to measure the distance between the chassis rails to find out. the punter says the bar is 800 wide, if the d1 chassis rails are 800 measured from the outside or slightly narrower then it would fit. Some big pieced of steel the height of the chassis rail would make a good spacer if the d1 chassis is narrower.

He suggests it is air bag compatable but I highly doubt that. It looks like a home made job, would never have been tested and therefore not compliant.

You can fit an rr classic bar to your D1.

    Cheers Trobbo.

Trying to source a nudge/winch bar for the front so as to keep the wieght down and keep the approach angle good. I don't want the full bull bar. Might look at a modifying one from an RRC or something.

It will fit but what he doesnt tell you is that to fit a winch you will need to buy the cradle that mounts between the chassis rails further back (about $300 or so). It should be ok with the airbags as it doesnt replace the front bar and the winch would be mounted direct to the chassis and not to the bar. Basically you wil need to trim your factory bar and cut a slot for the cable to run thru.

Actually i had a better look and there is no way that bar will take the strain of a winch as it is, it is only a factory nudge bar and wouldnt stop a cat leat alone winching.

I have one the same, and it incorporates a winch cradle - and it is not home made...looking more like factory, very strong and with all the proper mounts back to the chassis etc. I'm sure this one is the same as mine which came with the vehcile when new

It does look factory but who's i dont know, maybe Tata , look how thin those side brackets are and the amount of leverage that would be placed on the 2 bolts holding it to the vehicle, i would hang lights/ariel off it but nothing else.

    I wouldn't touch it.

There is plenty of others out there with origins you can trace to choose from.

    Sit tight.

It looks like the factory winch mount.

Thanks for all the input guys. I believe I will let it slip into the sunset and look for something more tangible, something I can actually touch and see before I purchase it.

So any tips on where/what type/ of nudge/winch bar's are out there? As I said before, I don't want the full size bullbar, but I'm thinking I may just have to comprimise and get one.

ARB sahara bar looks good, but do not know if they do one for D1's.

Alternatively, cut down a full bar.

How's your new ride going anyhow?
