    Fuel sedimenter

    Hey all,

need some advice from the experts. I have a 1998 Discovery 1 300tdi and I wanted to drain the fuel sedimenter before cleaning it as I doubt it has ever been done. However the drain plug was unbelieveably tight and the head twisted off leaving the plug.
What can I do to remove it and how easy is it to get a replacement?
    I'm in Perth.
    Thanks for any help

Remove the whole sedimentor as a unit by undoing the through bolt and give it a good clean up, from memory the nylon 'drain' is a 1/4W thread and could be replaced with a stainless bolt and fibre washer or 'O' ring.

Should have just undone it from the top at the start, those things are notorious for breaking, but oh well, i did mine just the other day and undid it from the top, it is really worth it, should do the fuel filter at the front at the same time too, you will notice a difference.

Dont forget to replace the 'O' rings when you put it back together!

    I think you'll find it's a 5/16" thread, not 1/4" (UNC or Whit, it doesn't matter)

As Martyn said, a stainless bolt is the go.
