Disco 1 conking out or just not starting

    Hi Guys,

Like to share a problem that I have been unfortunate to have happen to me...!!!

about 6 months ago had the primer pump on the Tdi300 **** itself so a new one quickly fitted and I was back on the road again.

heading to work one day and the old girl stops dead in its tracks, lucky it was early and no one else about, cranked it over a few times and started like nothing had happened,

Happened on and off with no real pattern, finally got jack of it and got it looked at, very had an intermittent problem looked at damn hard when nothing happens,

Anyway the techo hit the jack pot as he was taking it for a test drive it conked out on him, thank god for that he could now hopefully track it down.

long story cut short the soleniod is losing power hence the stopping ??
and is somewhere connected to the security / immobliser system as well

anyone had this sort of problem ????????

    best fix if any ??????

    Rgds

first things first get a bypass spider for your immobiliser it is a landrover part and stops your immobiliser activating..they are renowned for getting sensitive on the disco's especially if you off road......

Can leave you stranded so best not to have it.
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

The fuel stop solenoid connectors are notorious for getting loose and dirty in the engine bay. Clean them up grease and tighten them with with needle nose pliers and it should fix the intermittent stoppages. However, as DB was saying, in models with the 10AS ( Two button fob) alarm system ( TA onwards), the 'spider' or vehicle immobilizer can get a little iffy and cause problems. Just in case, make yourself a jumper cable to go from the battery to the fuel stop solenoid, so if it is the 'spider' you can limp around. (Although it means doing clutch stalls and lifting the bonnet all the time)

I had the same problem with mine Hubby pulled out the spider alarm and re soldered the points. Cross fingers it hasnt done it since. I will be looking into bypassing the alarm I just need to find where to buy it from!
