    D1 Front Door Lock issue

I know this has been covered in numerous threads, but im still not sure if my case of Door Lock failure is the same.

I pulled the door trim off to have a good look, both outter and inner door handles work fine.

Symptoms: When I use the central locking or manually push the lock knob down to lock door, then unlock (either central or manually) the locking mechanism doesnt seem to release fully. I look down at the door lock, and using a wire, can pull up the locking bar another 5mm or so (same scenario as if you locked keys in the car) and it unlocks fine and am able to open door.

So is this a spring issue, something else or just a worn out lock?

    Cheers,

    Carlos

Carlos, I had the same thing going on with 2 of the doors in my 90 RRC. It was the little spring thing in the mechanism and not a worn out lock. When they break they don't let it move the last few mm and the door won't unlock. Get the little springs from the wreckers or on ebay. Easy to fix

Thanks. I ordered the 2 springs from the same mob Pete, $20 inc postage. I got large hands and last time I did this was on my Rangie and ended up with cuts and abrasions on my hands.

I bought some of these Stooge, fitted them myself and hey presto.

You'll be fine, otherwise I'll do it for you if you drive to Sydney :P
