Bugger. Sorry to hear that.
LoL you always tell me afterwards!!!!! Its ok i've already told him to do it and the car will be ready by mid-next week. She done over 300thou but we'll see how we go. thing is if i did buy another engine pretty sure it cost's a bit throwing her in and i wont get much for the bottom end as i dont know what condition its in. i'm hoping its fine but i'll find out once the top half has been done. I'm pretty confident with the spanner i got doing it.
Hey guys just a quick update on my Disco, New head came on monday but glen from roverland thought the head seemed to be cut a bit rough so he said "Dont Think So!!" and sent it back to get another one. A new head came in and they bolted her up and now on monday is getting sent away i think to get the valves thrown in and what ever else needs to be done and i was assured that i will be getting it before the gathering on sat.:banana:
Thats whats good about glen at roverland, he took time out to check the head before putting her in and his motto that he told me was, "Rather do it right the first time" which i think its brilliant.
cheers simon.
Hope it all works out for you.
OK Well just got a call from glen at roverland and its not good news at all:(
he has replaced the head, gasket and vavles and put everything back together and took it for a drive. he said that it still has blowback in the engine and is spitting oil out of the injector pump. waiting for the cost from him now and i'm looking near or over $3,500. to find out what the problem is now he says that he will have to take everything apart again cause he thinks it could be the rings.
Now the turbo thats on the disco 300tdi has a bent fin and he was saying something about the turbo pipe that had relations to the blowback. Could it be the turbo thats gone????? will ask him as soon as he calls.
simon
Bloody hell Simon.Your not having a good run with this
Disco mate.:( Any chance it will be ready at all for the
big meet on Saturday? Hope it is buddy.
Dont know mate, if he has to take apart the engine again to check the piston rings which he thinks is the problem, proberly wont.:(
I'm hoping its the turbo, it has a bent fin and he was saying something about the turbo pipe blowback or something, sooo ****ed off at the moment i cant think straight.
no slaging intended ...but jjjjssss it craps me off when mechanics cant be bothered checking things whilst there in the mits of it all ...they should take responsibility for there actions at some stage ...and saying I'm going to have to pull it all apart because l think its the rings is just short of bloody ludicress.......hope all can get squared for you mate ...and hey heres an idea tell him your not paying for anymore labor if he has to go in again i sure as bloody hell would ...all the best mate
cheers
cheers buddy, its sad really sad. he said he had to put everything together and then check to see if there are any problems??? I dont know alot about mechanics but you would thing while having the head off it would be a good time to check over all the internals. really not my day today :(
pray tell how you check a motor with a cracked head and stuffed valves AND diagnose without doubt that you have rings stuffed enough to have a blowby problem as well?
