    Suspension Question

    Hello fellow D1 owners,
I am looking at a new suspension set up for my D1. I already have a 2" old man emu lift, which has been worth its weight in gold but now i want something different. What i would like is to have 2" lift but i would like to have longer travel. Is there anyone who has done this?

    Cheers

    Jim

Have disco 1 with 2'' lift am using dobinson springs and procomp shocks sourced from Suspension Stuff online. The shocks have the longest travel you can get. You will need to fit dislocation cones other wise springs will fall out. Talk to the guys at Suspension Stuff. They know what you will want. My set up is running with out sway bars and is fairly soft. You can pay the extra and go for the Boss shocks which would control body roll better. Have a wheel align and check what your castor is doing, is worth your while slotting hubs to correct castor back to +3 specs.
    Hope this helps your needs.

    Thanks RAD,
what is the full length of travel of your Shocks? And have you had to extend you brake lines at all?

    Cheers

Yes had to modify brackets for brake hoses, but I still used the orginal hoses. Can't remember the length of travels but it was the longest available through Suspension Stuff. I think 27'' on rear and maybe 24'' or 26'' on front.

coming from shane they should be 10'' maybe 11'' stroke es9000's. deffinatly not the longest you can get. i run 14.5''stroke (34'')
you will need to raise your front towers by 50mm for 10-11'' stroke, front wont dislocate.
rear needs extended bumpstops, again 50mm.
i only ever needed to extend the read brake line, where the flex meets the ''t'' piece. just have to extend the bracket by 40mm.

    cheers phil
