    whats the orange dash light mean !

    hi everyone
    wondering if anyone has any ideas of what my problem is it doesn't happen very often but it s a newsence when exellerating the orenge light appears on dash with the simbol ! and at the same time the engine dies but amediatly fire up again as im still driving and the light turns off sometimes this will happen e few time then it comes good.

    does the symbol " ! " have a circle around it? as I think thats the handbrake light but I also thought that was red...when you say your engine dies, do you mean it turns off or the power just drops?
    Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

    where on the dash is it? what year disco u have? im looking at the landrover black book thingy and it dosent have this simbol anywhere on the dash

    not unless its for your engine if theres problems, but as a guess id bee looking into sensors as these cars have so many they basically run the car
    maybe crank angle sensor or cam shaft sensor

    when was the last time the car was serviced? oil, plugs, spark leads etc

    The orange exclamation mark symbol is a warning lamp for the EFI system. I would check ALL earth connections, and the main power supply to the ECU as this could also explain the engine cutting out momentarily.

    Just another thought, are you in Australia? This warning lamp is not a usual option in our vehicles as we don't have Lambda sensors/ closed loop fuel control etc here.

    It could be the orange trailer light. I have a 96 Disco TDi and the trailer light in the dash is constantly on (without a trailer attached), I never got around to fixing it. But you did mention your engine cuts out, so perhaps it's not the orange trailer light symbol.

    mmmmmm i have never had a trailer on but I have had my trailer light flash with indicators and it GREEN........

    you haven't got your diff lock in have yeah

    Haha, nah you are totally correct. It has been 10 months since I've had my disco and I had forgotten... it WAS when I indicated and it IS green. WOOPS.

    Sorry if this is hijacking, but how did you fix the trailor light from flashing when you indicate?

    Is this orange light near the left side of your tacho, My 96 V8 Disco had it light up and it also had "Check Engine" displayed, it is a warning light that tells when something in the Fuel injection system was a miss, Had to take it to the stealership to have text book put on it to clear and read codes.
