I think you need to be more specific...battery in the car or battery in your alarm fob?
Hi all
A question from a D1 owner on our 4x4comunity.co.za forum.
"Hello all,
I wonder if someone could please help. I have a 300tdi discovery, 1997 model. I went to a battery shop to buy a new battery. I removed the old one and began connecting the new one. As i connected it, the alarm started going off. So, i now have disconnected the alarm speaker. Any ideas what i should do."
Any advice please.
I will also reccomend to him to join this forum.
Regards
Rudolf

Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
When changing the engine battery, I think you are meant to switch the the ignition on, turn off, disconnect battery within 15 secs. Pretty sure it says something similar in the manual.
I would try turning off the alarm with the remote a few times, and maybe turn the ignition on and off. Sorry not really sure what else to try.
Hi All
Thanks Rudolf. I am up and running here.
to answer dullbirds query, it is the battery in the car. Not key fob.
thanks
Hmm I don't recall a problem with that. Can only suggest he connects the battery, closes all the doors and bonnet, locks the car with the fob and then unlocks it again.
It is the OEM alarm we are talking about here, not an aftermarket one ?
