Hello I have a 96tdi disco and after all this rain I have noticed water leaking into my front passenger and driver side footwells only noticed it when I was vaccuming my car.
It looks like it is coming out out of my doors but that cant happen so I think its must be running down my door seals any one else had this problem and if it is the door seals where do I get new ones?

Mine leaked also through the windscreen rubbers up the top corners. Check it out, mine is all fixed because I got a new windscreen and rubbers!

SubscriberYou did mention that you noticed the wet carpet after rain but another source of wet D1 carpets is due to blocked air con drains. It may just be worth checking before replacing the door seals.

I had the same problem and checked the water ingress bulletin.
There is a weld where 2 or 3 panels meet in the corners of the fire wall, I sikaflexed them, also caulked the plate covering on the tray below the windscreen ( lift the bonnet and you will see it near the air intakes, Also caulk the top of the windscreen under the top trim and check you A/C drain holes as suggested earlier..
I believe the the wiring entering the cabin under the washer bottle is also an entry point water travels along this loom into the cabin.
I ended up with a hole in the floor pan, after repairing it I coated the entire cabin floor with water proofing bituman paint.... It stunk of Tar for a couple of days then the smell went and I refitted the carpets

Yes it can, if you still have the original drain plug in the bottom of the door. These plugs tend to block up and when the water builds up it can seep out the bottom of the door trim onto the carpet.
But I would be checking the A/C drain hoses as well, these tend to be the main culprit for water in the foot wells on D1's.

Get the Water Ingress Manual (if you don't have it, give me your mail address). It covers most points of possible water ingress, but unfortunately not all.
I had several tries to fix my troubles, which in the end and over the years turned out to be several unrelated issues. In your case I'd definitely check the windscreen seal. Any car glass specialist worth its salt will do that if you cannot do it yourself. The a/c is always an issue (glad I haven't got one). Check that the ducktails underneath are unblocked (you'll find them underneath the transmission tunnel).
In the lower corner of the windshield is an area where three or four sheets of metal meet. In typical British fashion, these don't meet exactly, so there is always a gap of sometimes considerable size, which is usually filled with, well, filler, and painted in the vehicle's colour and thus virtually invisible. In my case a little crack had developed over the years, invisible to the naked eye, but it let in considerable amount of moisture due to capillary action. I drilled it out and put new filler in, which solved the problem. Similarly, there are always some plugs which deteriorate with age and will present with similar features.
