On my '95 V8 I use a Gunsons Ezibleed to bleed from wheel furthest away from master cylinder first then move progressively closer towards the front. So
    passenger side rear
    driver side rear
    passenger front
    driver front

    Always seems to work well.

In the case of ABS D1's, the bleed sequence apparently should be RHR, LHR, RHF, LHF but I did it the other way for quite a while until I found this out, and they both seemed to work!

This is due to the ABS modulator being on the LH side of the vehicle, but I feel it will still bleed out the other method looking at how the lines are orientated.

Longest distance to the reservoir first, then next longest, then next, then next

I have a 1 man bleed procedure that works well and has never let me down -
get yourself a 1m length of clear tube that fits tight onto the bleed nipple, get a clear glass jar like a coffee jar with lid and drill a hole in the lid to suit the tube. Feed tube into jar and place jar as high above brake to be bled, open nipple and gently pump pedal untill it starts to firm up or you see no bubbles rising. Repeat for each corner and on the last brake to be bled the pedal should be as firm as normal. Using this method i can fully bleed an RRC in about 30 mins.

With ABS brakes i have read that you have to have the engine running when you bleed the brakes., Is this true on Land Rovers? I have just bought a 97 discovery with a very squishy brake pedal that makes an airy wooshing sound when I push it down and doesnt stop when it should. Im gonna replace the pads too and hopefully the disc are still okay. Its a V8i.
