Timing belt went last night while driving D1 - 92 tdi...!!

Could use some advice on what people have had happen when this occures..

Really good mate has let me know that the valves are above the piston. Should be nothing more than some bent push rods.

    Anyone else had this happen....?

    Jay

At 140K get it done if you don't know if it was done at 80,000Km. It'll be due at at 160K anyway. Not that expensive, especially compared to the probable damage that Jay has on his hands.

    Jay,
Happened to my 93 TDI, couple of bent push rods, new belt and bearings, no damage to rockers or valves. Put the kit in, replaced the pushrods and its been going without a drama since.
Obviously I was very lucky and not something I want to experience again but certainly not a "sell the car" drama. Chances are this will be similar to what you will experience or at least I hope so.

    Good luck.

make sure the timing recall was done also...I have just had my timing belt done and my bearing for the fan pulley that is pressed into the timing case cover...

And I was amazed to learn that mine had not had the recall done....I dont know the correct terms I'm sure someone will pipe up but basically i think its one of the cogs (I will call it that as it looks like it has teeth) is supposed to have a shoulder on it this is the recall....as the ones with out allow the belt to wonder or walk as I was told ....the replacement timing belt kit I think cost $250 to do this recall..

Just something to be aware of

    It's a 200Tdi though, the recall isn't applicable.

mmmmmm both our 200's are due for a change, we have the belts just got to get around to fitting them
Sorry for the highjack Jay, but just seeing if you need to replace anything else apart from the belt?

    CHEERS TIM.
